Three Drawings by Calder Wiss, A Former Eloise Psychiatric Hospital Patient

I found these highly over-priced drawings by former Eloise mental patient Calder Wiss on eBay tonight and thought that I'd post them.

They are hardly what would be considered accomplished art but they are okay folk art drawings.

The seller describes Mr. Wiss as such:

"I went to the hospital as part of our church missionary work as a kid in 1950. I meet Calder at that time, and I went back as a older person to visit him. He had been placed there after WW I.and never left. Calder was Diagnosed with sever depression. He gave me the drawings at the time. I thought very little of them until I found them in storage, looked closer at the art and realized his talent."
