Contract Is Held Up: Supervisors Object to Alien Workers on Eloise Job
Detroit Free Press, July 29, 1931
This sounds awfully familiar. No
aliens were allowed to build at Eloise back in 1931 and we're not talking martians. Since
the prosecutor deemed it illegal to work the clause into the contract
it's likely that non-Americans were eventually employed in the
construction projects. Of course, at that time the illegals were most likely Italian and Irish but alien residents nonetheless.
