Free At Last

Detroit Free Press, July 1, 1952
It difficult to make a judgment against whether or not Carl Schnell was dealt a bad hand when institutionalized for 20+ years for assault without knowing his prior history. But the fact that he was 46 when he went to Jackson Prison, followed by Ionia and then finally WCGH, suggests that he was probably not such a good guy. Of course, being of sound mind in 1935 as compared to today are worlds apart. 50% of the population would be locked up if we went by those standards. I'm not so sure that they are outdated.
